The libraries at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University are pleased to announce that Jay Forrest is appointed as temporary head of operations planning for the Library Service Center (LSC).
Forrest is a subject librarian for Georgia Tech’s School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, specializing in spatial data and GIS. In this new role, Forrest is managing the ingest coordination and operational planning for the LSC, working with both the Georgia Tech and Emory libraries, the LSC steering committee, subject matter experts from both institutions, and various stakeholders and vendors.
The Library Service Center, located on Emory’s Briarcliff campus, is a collaborative project between Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Once constructed, the LSC will house a shared collection and provide robust service and optimal space for present and future library growth essential to both Emory and Georgia Tech.
Construction of the LSC is scheduled for completion in October 2015 and Forrest’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the facility is prepared for operations. As a Georgia Tech employee, Forrest reports to both Catherine Murray-Rust, Georgia Tech’s Dean of Libraries and Vice Provost for Academic Effectiveness and Yolanda Cooper, Emory University's University Librarian.
